DreamHost Domain Name Servers and Whois Information
DreamHost is well known in hosting industry. The main business of DreamHost is hosting. Since they are in hosting, DreamHost have to offer domain registration. So DreamHost is domain registrar too.
Set Domain Name Servers in DreamHost
In my previous article, we learn how to register domain name. Now we need to know how to set domain name server.
Well, you don’t have to set DNS servers if you are going to host your web site on your dreamhost account. However, there are few customers who are not happy with DreamHost hosting and want to host their site at other hosting provider. For doing so, you need to change name servers for your registered domains.
To change name servers entry, go to Manage Domains section. As seen in the above image, you will get DNS button exactly below your domain name. But wait! You will see your domain name entry in Manage Domains section only if you have hosted your site at dreamhost.
There is also other way to change the name servers.
Go to Registrations section. Now click on your domain name for which you want to set name servers.
As seen in the above image, you will get whois information and below that you will get a button to modify WHOIS info for your domain name. Although it says, you can change WHOIS but you can change name servers also using the same button.
Now set the name servers for your hosting company and your domain will point to your new name servers.
Set WHOIS information in DreamHost
To change the WHOIS info, you will have to come to same page only.
Above the name servers entry, you can modify your whois information too.
